TEAM REQUIREMENTS:
Dancers must take 1. the ballet class for their level as decided by the Class Placement Audition 2. the appropriate leaps & turns class during the summer session and 3. the Competition Technique and Stretch & Strength classes on Wednesday nights during the season.
Dancers must be available for class and rehearsals on Wednesday evenings throughout the dance season
Flexibility is an important piece of competitive dance. Dancers must have right and left leg splits at the audition and maintain them throughout the season. If a dancer does not have a flat split during any class or rehearsal, one warning will be sent home. If it happens again, the dancer will be required to pay for weekly private lessons until flat splits are achieved. If splits are lost during competition season (Feb-April), the dancer may be ineligible to perform.
All rehearsals are mandatory, including Choreo Week July 29-Aug 2, 2024. One absence may be excused during the season. Additional absences will require paid private lessons to make up missed material. Students who miss rehearsal during the week of a competition will be ineligible to participate in that weekend’s event.
AUDITION INFO:
All dancers who want to be part of the 2024-25 Competition Team must register for the audition. Audition week starts with clinics Mon-Thurs 6/10-6/13 and Auditions take place on Friday 6/14.
Students who want to be considered for a solo and/or duet/trio must be selected for 2 or more group routines.
When you register for the audition, you may select a maximum number of dances based on the time & financial commitments, and we take your preferences into consideration, but please remember: our judges will decide which dances your dancer is best fit for!
(There are a lot of factors that go into competition dance pricing, including the number of dancers for each routine, the entry fees for the competitions selected, and the amount of time our teachers estimate it will take to learn and clean the choreography. Group dances typically run between $400-600, solos and duets range $650-950 per dancer).
Results will be announced via email within 3 weeks of the audition.
